BF6 Gamers Agree: Missions Are Overly Demanding

The launch of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 was met with broad praise, particularly for its premier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, concurrent player counts surged to nearly 750,000. Yet, despite its popularity, many players are protesting against a portion of the release's hardest challenges, which are necessary to access certain guns.

Players have started using custom matches set up using Battlefield Portal to complete them, underscoring just how arduous these challenges have become.

Understanding BF6 Tasks

Assignments are Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, different from the frequently updated everyday and weekly missions. It features four types of assignments, but where most only reward cosmetics and some tools, achieving the firearm tasks is the only way of getting 12 of the 41 main guns found within the game.

Several of these locked weapons might eventually earn a place on lists of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.

Player Outcry on Reddit

Within Reddit, players are reasonably sharing their frustrations about how challenging and repetitive some of these challenges are. A particular gamer highlighted one of the most extreme examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
  • Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs

"This task is so awful and completely out of mind, I want to scream in frustration," is a comment that illustrates just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many benefits in combat as it used to in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.

Meanwhile, using an LMG from the hip is wildly inaccurate and functions solely at extremely close range, which is seldom the location you prefer to be. The commenter also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that mission would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and the other way around.

Another Extremely Difficult Mission

One more community participant highlighted an additional excessively hard challenge, now in the marksman rifle class to access the PSR:

  • Get 150 headshot kills from more than 200 meters away with long-range weapons

This is challenging enough by itself, but there's another important point to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at that kind of range.

There is a decent selection of map sizes, but since there are only nine battlegrounds in the game right now, it means you're limited to playing a specific urban map, Mirak Valley, and possibly an additional option in a best-case scenario if you plan to engage from afar from beyond 200 meters.

The Alternative Method

However, there is a solution: the custom game tool. The Battlefield Portal is a tool that allows you to design tailored experiences on any map you prefer, featuring computer-controlled players. This implies you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't exactly feel like the intended gameplay experience.

Yet, if doing the challenges in a proper game appears to work against fun, since you are forced to participate in such an atypical style that harms both you and your squad, who can blame someone for grinding them out in a private match so allies are not impaired?

Upcoming Tweaks

It won't come as a surprise if several of these tasks are adjusted to be less difficult in the near future, because unless they are modified, some players simply are unlikely to obtain the gated weapons.

For now, the community continues to express their views on these demanding battlefield assignments, expecting a less arduous gaming experience in coming revisions.
