The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Trailer Arrives, Revealing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo alongside Illumination shared the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. This occurred during a special Nintendo Direct that focused exclusively on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
The follow-up to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the outer limits of the cosmos. There, he will encounter a different royal figure and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
A Space-Faring Quest Based on Beloved Titles
Much like the games from the Wii period that provide its foundation, Mario will depart from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. On his epic voyage, he will reunite with some well-known personalities, for instance the Luma, a popular character from the original cinematic release.
But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who reportedly commands metallic abilities. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The feature will see the return of the initial voice actors, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. It was announced by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
A Significant Period for Mario
The upcoming Mario film is scheduled to arrive around the time of the 40-year celebration of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 promises to be a significant year for Mario and his companions.
Nintendo confirmed a set of three fresh titles publicly declared for 2026, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
